Results of twelve studies, five RCTs and seven non-RCTs including a control group, conducted in the USA, Canada and Great Britain suggest that Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) in residential settings is more effective than standard treatment in reducing criminal behavior in adolescents twelve months after release from the institution. The results are consistent across studies although the studies vary in quality. There is no evidence that the results of CBT are better than those of alternative treatments, i.e. treatments other than CBT.

Marriage affects health insurance coverage. As marriage rates in the United States decline . . . fewer women will have the opportunity to obtain health insurance coverage through their spouse. Marriage can also increase family income and may make health insurance more affordable. Because poor and low-income unmarried women are more likely to be eligible for Medicaid than their married counterparts, changes in Medicaid eligibility may also affect coverage rates disproportionately for poor and low-income unmarried women.
Although CDC recently reported that annual HIV incidence has remained stable in the United States in recent years, these estimates do not provide a full picture of the effect that HIV prevention efforts are having across the country. While stability in new infections is one sign of progress, these incidence data alone cannot quantify the amount of transmission that occurs in relation to the growing population infected with HIV.
According to the most recently available Labour Force Survey for 2004-2005, 509,000 individuals in the UK believed they were suffering from stress, depression or anxiety and these conditions were caused or made worse by their current or past work. Social workers are better now at child protection
From the beginnings of child protection social work in the late-19th century through to 1914, no less than 13,613 children died in child protection cases. These were children who died in the cases that the NSPCC knew about. Like today, many more died from abuse but did not come to the attention of professionals. Not all of these children were killed by murderous cruel parents. Many were dying anyway due to poverty, rampant diseases and poor public health.
