U-HALL FACULTY FELLOW
The Faculty Fellows of University Hall would like to welcome everyone to University Hall and the new school year. We’d also like to highlight some upcoming Faculty Fellow events, which you might enjoy attending.
Just in case you haven’t seen the information about the Faculty Fellows posted near the elevators, we will begin with introductions. University Hall is home to two Faculty Fellow families. Professors Cyrus Patell and Deborah Williams live with their two young sons on the north side of the 15th floor. Cyrus and Deborah both specialize in English literature. Patsy Cooper and Warren Frisina, live on the east side. Their daughters are in college and beyond. Warren works in Chinese religion and American pragmatism. Patsy’s fields are early childhood and early literacy education. You can click on the “Faculty Fellow Profiles” link over in the sidebar for even more information.
As Faculty Fellows we are committed to enhancing the life of University Hall students through programming related to the concept of cosmopolitanism. Professor Patell describes this in an earlier post as “a way of building community by embracing rather than avoiding difference.” Please see the blog for a more in-depth and interesting discussion. The end result, however, is that “cosmopolitanism is also an idea that allows us to take advantage of the rich cultural resources that city of New York has to offer.” Faculty Fellow events range from the mainstream theater to off, off, off Broadway. From the opera to the ballgame to the Oscar movies series. Where appropriate, events feature a pre- or post-event discussion with faculty.
All events are announced on email, and, when seats are limited, tickets are distributed either through a lottery process or on a first-come, first-serve basis. The important thing is to check your NYU email often.
