Want the perfect internship or job this summer? Now’s the time to start!
-Ways to look for a job:
-Careernet has lots of great job postings. You can sign up for it at the front desk of the Wasserman Center. Check out the job postings on a regular basis. Then apply to the jobs that interest you. Make sure to follow up. Otherwise your resume might get lost in the shuffle. Careernet has lots of other great features too. Spend some time exploring it.
-Tell your friends, your family and your professors that you are looking for a job or internship. Networking is a great way to gather information. Also, if you find out about a job opening that might interest a friend, share the good news. What goes around, comes around.
-If there is a specific place where you want to work, contact them directly. Send a cover letter and a resume. Then follow up with an e-mail, a phone call or a visit.

-It should be a formal business letter (or e-mail).
-Say what position you are applying for.
-Say why you are right for the job.
-Say that you would like an interview.
-Attach your resume. It should include:
-Your contact info.
-Your education
-Past work experience (volunteering counts too!)
-Any honors you have received (like a scholarship).
-Any language or technical skills you have.
-After you have sent your cover letter, follow up by calling or e-mailing the employer to set up an interview.
-The interview:
-Wear business attire.
-Practice with someone else the night before.
-Before the interview, think of some questions you would like to ask the employer.
-Be confident.
-After the interview, send the employer a thank you.
