Get A Flawless Face… even when you’re feeling under the weather

Hey all,

Sorry for no post last week – I was sick and didn’t have enough energy to type. Since I am still recovering from my terrible cold I do not look my best. As it is flu season, I thought it would be a good idea to show you how to put on a ‘Flawless Face’ with four products. The key here is to enhance your natural beauty, and not to go overboard.

Before Applying any color you want to prepare your skin and start with a clean canvas. Wash your face and apply your normal skincare routine (acne treatment, moisturizer, spf). After you apply your skincare products, wait 2-5 minutes so that it has settled into your skin – this will eliminate any clumping that could occur when you mix powder with a cream.

STEP 1: PRIMER Apply a foundation primer. It is a colorless gel that provides a barrier between the skin and foundation to ensure freshness and long-lasting color. This helps to even the skin texture and make your foundation stay on longer.

I am of the belief that you should only use makeup where it is needed – thus avoiding the ‘makeup mask’ and cakey look that some makeup application tends to leave. So, I would suggest putting foundation on places that are red or discolored in some way. Most women need foundation around their nose and mouth. This technique can be used to reduce redness with women of lighter skin and to even out the darker pigmentation that can occur for women of color. Use a sponge or your fingers to press the foundation into your skin (called stippiling). It is important to blend, which can be done through this technique, however if you use a swiping motion too much you will end up taking off your makeup instead of blending it in!

Once again use a stippiling motion to cover these imperfections – it will concentrate and condense your makeup into one spot. When putting concealer under your eyes, make sure not to pull or tug this sensitive skin because it is believed that it could lead to sagging and wrinkles later in life. settingpowder.bmp STEP 4: SETTIN POWDER You’re almost done! The last step is to set your makeup with a loose powder. If you feel like you need more coverage, you can choose a pigmented powder. However, I prefer a translucent powder because it can be used alone on bare skin to eliminate shine.

Now you can go on to apply your eye and lip to complete the look!
NOTE Remember, if you have powder on your face, use a powder blush. If you use a cream or a gel blush over powder it may clump.
