The façade (from the 2nd floor down) of 10 Washington Place will be cleaned and repainted later this month.
Scaffolding will be installed on June 17, 2010. The power washing will begin on Monday, June 21, 2010 and continue until about June 25, 2010. During this time there will be some minor noise associated with the power washer. The workers are only using water to clean the façade. The sidewalk will remain open during this time.
Once the washing is complete, they will begin to patch and paint the façade. This work is projected to last a week and start around June 28, 2010.
These dates may change slightly, if there are unforeseeable delays as some of the work is weather dependent.
On Wednesday, November 11, 2009 a boom truck will be parked in front of 10 Washington Place to will remove and replace the water tank on the roof of 10 Washington Place. Pieces of the old water tank will be removed and a new tank will be delivered via the same truck.
The street will remain open to traffic during this time.
Work is expected to be completed by Friday, November 13, 2009.
The project has been substantially completed and the building is ready for occupancy. Final roof repairs are scheduled to be completed by September 14, 2009.
On Wednesday, August 19, 2009 work will begin on the new roof. This work is projected to take approximately three weeks depending on the weather. There will be moderate amounts of noise and some odor associated with coating the roof with a new membrane, which is normal.
Late this week the scaffolding and sidewalk bridge will be taken down as the construction team begins to level out the sidewalk. Once the sidewalk bridge is removed from the site the new sidewalk will be poured. Also, the container that has been temporarily in front of the building will be removed within the next week.
Furniture deliveries will continue the rest of this week as the building nears completion. The building will be ready for occupancy as early as next week.
The project is in the final stages of construction. Roof work is scheduled over the next few weeks, but the focus of the work this month will be preparing the building for occupancy. The interior build out will continue as flooring materials, lighting, and other fixtures are installed in the coming weeks.
10 Washington Place is scheduled to be ready for occupancy at the end of August 2009.
Work continues on the roof of the building and the interior construction of floors. There will be a delivery of large mechanical equipment, which is expected to occur on Friday, July 10, 2009. There may be a temporary street closure in conjunction with this delivery. The sidewalk bridge is expected to be removed at the end of July and the building will be ready for occupancy in August.

Beginning the week of June 1, 2009, work is scheduled to begin on the water main lines in front of the building. This will require a temporary sidewalk closure as they work on the street directly in front of 10 Washington Place. The work is expected to take approximately one week.
They continue to work on the roof and the construction and wiring of the interior floors for the next month. Additional steel deliveries are scheduled.
There will also be additional work on Saturdays.
The temporary street closure on Washington Place between Greene and Mercer Streets will now take place on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 7AM-6PM. There will be no parking allowed on the street while it is closed.
There will be NO work on Monday, May 25, 2009 in observance of Memorial Day.
A temporary street closure is scheduled on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 on Washington Place between Greene and Mercer Streets from 7AM - 6PM. The street will be closed while an HVAC unit is delivered. A mobile crane will be brought in that morning and will leave once the delivery is made. The street will reopen once work is completed.
Next week a temporary street closure on Washington Place is scheduled on Friday, May 22, 2009 for delivery of the HVAC units, but could be occur the following week. We will update once the date and times are confirmed.
There will be additional work Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 9AM-5PM. All work will be limited to the interior.

Construction continues at 10 Washington Place. In May, a temporary lane closure is projected while the construction team works on the water main connection. A street closure for delivery of HVAC equipment is also projected.
In the coming weeks, there will be an increase in roof work, which should last through June 2009. There will continue to be periodic deliveries of equipment and steel where one lane will be temporarily closed during the delivery period.
Work is scheduled on Saturday, May 2, 2009 and Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 10 Washington Place from 9AM-4PM. The work will include some interior abatement and electrical work on the ground floor and in the basement.
A meeting will be held with the project managers from 12-16 Waverly Place and 10 Washington Place on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 25 W. 4th Street in classroom C-19 (in the basement) from 5:30-6:30PM to give the community quick updates concerning each project.

Construction continues at 10 Washington Place. Steel deliveries are scheduled; a large flatbed truck with a hydraulic lift that raises the material into the building will be used. Concrete trucks pouring cement will also be present. These trucks should not impact street traffic.

Demolition is 90% complete and some interior construction has begun. Over the next few weeks, the contractor will begin to pour the new foundation for the elevator pit and start some of the interior renovations. Work is scheduled from 7AM-6PM with noisy work starting after 8AM.
This week the construction team removed the roof penthouse. Demolition continues next week with working hours from 7AM-6PM. Noisy work will start at 8AM. There will be no work on Monday, February 16, 2009 in observance of President's Day.
The roof of 10 Washington Place contains some asbestos that will be removed beginning on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. This work will be conducted over the next few days with a projected completion on Friday, February 6, 2009. Work will be conducted during normal working hours from 8:00 AM 6:00 PM. All work is weather dependent so the dates listed may change.
There will be work on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10 Washington Place. This work will be limited to the sub-cellar level and will be confined to the interior from 9AM-3PM. There may be moderate levels of noise associated with this work.

As part of the planned renovation at 10 Washington Place, on Monday, January 19, 2009 a sidewalk shed will be installed to protect the storefront during construction.
The sidewalk will remain open to pedestrian traffic.
The project will begin the installation of scaffolding starting today, January 8, 2009.
The renovation project at 10 Washington Place is currently still in the demolition phase. During the week of December 29th a sidewalk bridge will be installed on Washington Place for protection of pedestrians and the storefront. The sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian traffic.
The working hours will remain from 7AM-6PM on weekdays with noisy work beginning at 8AM. Holiday work hours are as follows:
Beginning on Thursday, December 18, 2008 the construction team will begin removing plaster from the west party wall. This is projected to last through mid January. Plaster removal is done with a chipping hammer that may cause some vibrations as well as noise for neighbors in 14 Washington Place. We advise neighbors to remove any valuables from the walls while this work occurs.
Work hours will remain the same (7AM-6PM) with noisy work beginning at 8AM.
In order to repair part of the roof at 10 Washington Place, asbestos-containing roofing materials will be removed beginning on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 with a projected completion in 3 phases over 3 weeks. All work will be weather dependent. As part of the work area preparation, there are three windows on the east side of 14 Washington Place that are on the roof level and will have to be plasticized during the abatement.
The plastic will be installed on the windows prior to the abatement shift and removed at the end of the shift. There may be minor noise associated with the work along the wall where the roofing material of 10 Washington Place abuts the wall at 14 Washington Place.
Chipping hammers may be needed to remove residual tar material.
Roof work will begin the week of November 17, 2008 at 10 Washington Place. A foam layer will be sprayed on the roof to mitigate dust and a container will be placed across the street in
front of 3-5 Washington Place to expedite the removal of debris.
This work will be conducted over the course of three weeks in three phases. All roof work is weather dependent so the dates listed may change. Work will be conducted during normal working hours from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

There will be additional abatement work at 10 Washington Place this week with an extended shift on Friday evening and some work on Saturday and Sunday.
The work will be limited to the lobby, cellar, and sub-cellar levels. All work should be quiet with minimal impacts to our neighbors.

In our continued effort to keep neighbors informed the University met with residents of 14 and 15 Washington Place on September 11, 2008, prior to the construction beginning at 10 Washington Place. During this meeting we discussed the scope of work and schedule and were able to address many of the neighbors' concerns regarding this project. The University welcomes the opportunity to engage directly with our neighbors and we look forward to continuing our dialogue.
