This is a a very good article about freegans. They are called "scavengers of the developed world". Interesting to compare this story with the one posted by Casey few days ago.
I am also attaching two pictures taken today during a Freegan Trash Tour. In the first one you could see Adam giving a speech about freeganism in front of the media (CBS), you could also see the kind of food that was recovered from a store on 38th St and 3rd Ave . The second picture shows what I ended up keeping for myself after exploring the area’s wasted food.

For anyone interested, french filmmaker Agnes Varda, made two films about the equivalent of freegans (sort of) in France called Les Glaneurs et la Gleaneuse (2000) and Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse: Deux Ans Apres (2002).
