Ramil May Have Worms

Well, technically, it's a fungus. The medical term for it is "tinea corporis," but it is more commonly known as ringworm. However, there are actually no worms involved; ringworm is nothing more than a bunch of tiny organisms that survive by eating your skin.

And also, I don't think that I actually have it, making no part of this heading accurate. Although I don't show any symptoms of ringworm, one of my roommates definitely has it. Normally, I probably wouldn't think much of it, but after all that stuff in the news about the superbug, I'm kind of worried.

While ringworm is contagious, it is usually only transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. So, as long as I don't touch the gross, bumpy, pink circle on my roommate's leg, I should be okay.

Ramil Cuts His Own Hair

Hey guys. So, I've got a new video coming at you... and it's another hair cutting video! However, this haircut video won't be nearly as exciting because I am cutting my own hair - with a little help from David and Leslie. It was getting kind of long, and I didn't really feel like going to the barber, so I decided to just cut it myself.

In other news, Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching and the 4 day weekend is looming over everyone's head. I admit, I have been acting like I'm already on break a little bit (i.e. I should be in class right now.) But I have good reasons why I'm skipping class today. 1: No one is going to go to class today. and 2: I am helping my friend Craig with his shoot by acting in his production. Isn't that cool?

Okay, I'm actually running late to go meet him, but I'll let you know how the shoot goes. Oh yea, and here's that haircut video I mentioned above, Ramil Cuts His Own Hair:

Ramil Goes To The Doctor, Improves Hearing

As you may already know, I am planning to study abroad in Florence next semester. I've applied for a visa, booked a flight, and selected my courses, but that was only the beginning of a very long, complicated process. There are so many forms to fill out, and deadlines to meet that it can make you want to not go abroad anymore. But I'm slowly getting everything done, and today, I went to the doctor to do a physical examination and obtain my medical records.

After waiting for like an hour, I finally got to see my doctor. We did the whole pre-physical exam dance -- the blood pressure, the weighing, the questionnaire -- so that it's not that weird when it's time to touch your privates.

And then the real physical exam started. My doctor checked for heart murmurs with the stethoscope, checked my eyes, and then gave my ears a look. She let out a gasp, and I immediately knew something was wrong. "How long has this been in here?" she asked as if she had uncovered my secret stash of candy. I asked what she was talking about, and she told me that there was a cotton swap stuck in my inner ear. And apparently, it had been stuck there for quite some time. How gross is that?

At first, I was not that concerned. I mean, if the cotton swab had been living inside my ear for such a long time already, it has probably found a way to adapt and contribute to my body's functions. But my doctor insisted that the Q-Tip tip needed to be removed, and so we flushed it out with at the emergency eye wash station.

As a result of today's doctor visit, my hearing has drastically improved. In addition, I will also be more careful with cotton swabs.
