Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the position of Associate with the LGBT Rights Program.

Description: The Associate will provide critical administrative and clerical assistance, including, but not limited to, maintaining extensive files, contact lists, and databases; maintaining communication among HRW's domestic and international offices and providing substantive, logistical and administrative assistance to field offices; retrieving and responding to requests for information; preparing, formatting and distributing documents such as press releases, reports, tables, charts, briefing papers, op‑eds, publications and web content; assisting with research, electronic clipping, wires, and translations; preparing for and taking minutes at meetings; assisting with advisory committee matters; assisting with special events, hiring, and training; drafting and editing correspondence and other documents; assisting with liaison with NGO partners; assisting with travel arrangements and follow-up; recruiting and coordinating interns; recording departmental finances; word processing; photocopying; filing; faxing; answering phones; processing incoming mail; and other assigned tasks.

Program Manager - Safe Space NYC, Inc.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
Overall management of ACS funded drop-in center for runaway youth AGES 13-21. The Director will lead a team of case managers, and outreach staff in meeting the physical, mental and emotional needs of adolescents at risk for homelessness, AWOL, HIV and other unstable conditions.

SALARY: $50,000

Case Manager - The Door

Overview: The Case Manager will support the Counseling Programs, Membership Services and Center Space by providing case management to ensure that the basic needs of young people, including crisis counseling, housing placement, entitlements procurement, health care, mental health care, education, job/career assistance, recreational opportunities and other service needs are being met.

Responsibilities:
    • In collaboration with other Door programs, identify young people in need of case management services.
    • Provide supportive counseling and case management for a caseload of up to 20 young people
    • Collaborate with Crisis Counselor around the needs of young people seen for crisis services.
    • Refer, follow-up and collaborate with other Door departments/programs and outside agencies on behalf of young people
    • Lead case conferences for optimum collaboration among departments/programs and external agencies
    • Fieldwork and escorts as required
    • Provide back-up for Crisis Counselor
    • Document all interventions with young people and on their behalf
    • Demonstrate and understanding of and practice the principles of positive youth development
    • Attend all relevant meetings, trainings, workshops and outside events
    • Handle any appropriate responsibilities and functions as assigned by supervisor
