         <title>Social Worker (School-Based Clinics) - The Children&apos;s Aid Society</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<strong>Position Summary</strong>* <br>
Under the direction of a Senior Social Worker and/or Supervisor, or his/her designee, provides social work services to children and adolescent patients and their families using various social work methods, including individual, group and family counseling. These functions are performed under general supervision, necessitating the ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.<br>
<br>
<strong>Illustrative Examples of Work*</strong><br>
<ul>
•	Participates with interdisciplinary team members in developing and implementing program policies and procedures and preventing crises.<br>
•	Assesses the social and emotional needs of patients.<br>
•	Provides direct counseling/social services to students referred by self, health team, faculty, administration and other school ancillary staff.<br>
•	Tracks and follows up on all referrals made in and out of school.<br>
•	Coordinates social work services and patient referrals between the program and other agencies providing social and educational services in both the school and local community. <br>
•	Establishes referral network/linkages with outside agencies for both students and parents.<br>
•	Participates and occasionally presents at teacher meetings, assemblies, etc.<br>
•	Serves as an advocate for patients' rights within the clinic and serves as a mediator between parents, child and school.<br>
•	Remains available for crisis intervention social work as the need arises or arranges for such coverage by emergency social services. <br>
•	Records professional assessments, identifies problems, treatment plans and progress notes as required by NYSOMH regulations, policies and procedures, and the Children's Aid Society.<br>
•	Attends all weekly clinical meetings (e.g. Utilization Reviews, Disposition, Administrative).<br>
•	Ensures that all patients, visitors, guests, as well as co-workers, receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity and respect, no matter how limited the contact.<br>
•	Will operate the on-call emergency phone on a rotating basis.<br>

We carry out this mission by delivering engaging, experiential learning workshops with girls ages 9-18 throughout Westchester. 
We are now interviewing new Group Facilitation Consultants for our direct service programs for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 academic years, especially those who are bilingual in English/Spanish. <br> 
<br> 
 <strong>RESPONSIBILITIES: </strong><br> 
<ul>
•	Actively participate in Girls Inc. Westchester Program Training. 3-day interactive training in Girls Inc. curricula and content, educational philosophy, and youth development principles. Successful participants will become Certified Educators for Girls Inc. of Westchester.<br> 
•	Implement weekly workshops using Girls Inc. curricula, with a group of 10-20 girls at host sites in White Plains, Port Chester, Yonkers, and other communities in Westchester. <br> 
•	Complete administrative tasks such as attendance, consent forms, surveys and reports. <br> 
•	Submit evaluations and reports as outlined by program staff.<br> 
•	Attend regular supervision with Girls Inc. of Westchester program staff. <br> 
</ul><br> 
<strong> COMMITMENT:</strong><br> 
<ul> 
•	The 20-hour (3-day) Program Training is scheduled to take place January 9-11, 2009. <br> 
•	Some Girls Inc. programming takes place as  weekly groups that meet two hours, once per week for 10 weeks during the semester, Monday-Thursday between 3:00pm and 7:00pm. We also run 1-2 hour one-time workshops, as well as some evening and one-day Saturday workshops.<br> 
•	Certified Educators may facilitate 1 or more groups or workshops this academic year, with the possibility of adding additional groups next year.  <br>

Presently I am looking to hire a Social Worker in my program.  TFC is an intensive case management program for children who have an Axis I diagnosis. Each team consists of a Social Worker (a Master's level worker) and a Sociotherapist (a Bachelor's level worker).  The teams work to coordinate services for each child surrounding the child's needs.  These needs include the following areas: mental health, education/employment, recreation, medical, etc. <br>

The Social Workers devise a treatment plan/ABC plan for each child and treat the targeted behaviors and issues, providing counseling to the child/youth, foster family and birth family.  The Social Worker works in collaboration with community systems to ensure the well being and safety of the child, as well as working towards permanency for the child.  Visits occur in the child/youth's home and school and in the community and office.  <br>

Part time position entails assisting with the administrative and programmatic needs of the Fresh Start Program. Responsibilities include assisting with recruitment and retention of freshmen students, cofacilitating weekly groups, and providing administrative support to the Program Coordinator. <br>

<strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</strong><br>

Primary Responsibilities:<br>
<ul>
1.	Assist Program Coordinator in recruiting freshmen into the program and following-up with referred students. Conduct outreach and follow-up to students, teachers, administrators and families.<br>
2.	Assist with planning, coordinating and chaperoning field trips and special events.<br>
3.	Cofacilitate freshmen groups and senior mentor trainings. Assist Program Coordinator with curriculum development.<br>
4.	Oversee administration of the senior mentors. Input data into systems and keep paper records organized and accessible.<br>
5.	Assist in the production of monthly schedule and encourage new students to sign up for and participate in other after school activities<br>
6.	Other tasks as assigned by supervisor<br>
