POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Defense Project Manager is responsible for assisting the COO achieve COA’s strategic goals and mission through the management of the Department of Defense multi-service project. This is accomplished through the management of Department of Defense (DOD) projects, staff and results. Some travel required. This is a 2 year term position.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises DOD staff and provides tools and atmosphere to encourage their professional development;
• Leads cross-divisional team efforts to develop and implement all DOD project deliverables and approval materials and functions.
• In conjunction with the COO, establishes the short and long-term plan for the DOD project, including goals and objectives
• Meets project goals on time, within budget, while maintaining quality standards, and initiates corrective action for non-adherence.
• Maintains regular contact with liaison at the DOD, and in conjunction with the CEO and COO participates in negotiations and performance reviews of project goals with the DOD.
• Ensures that the confidentiality of the information/documentation obtained throughout the DOD process is protected and maintained in accordance with record keeping procedures.
• Ensures that DOD project staff perform in accordance with COA’s CQI process
• Advises COO on staffing needs for the DOD Project and helps to oversee hiring, development and allocation of DOD project employees.
• Complies with HR requirements in relation to DOD project employees.
• Oversees data collection and reporting in accordance with procedures.
• Ensures quality service delivery to all organizations as measured by customer satisfaction survey results.
• Responds to questions and requests from DOD and applicant organizations in a timely manner.
• Advocates on behalf of organizations within COA.
• Communicates all concerns expressed by DOD and applicant organizations to the COO.
• Reviews submitted self-studies to assess readiness for site visit or need for additional technical support from COA
• Stays abreast of legislative activity and service delivery changes in the fields of early childhood education, youth services, family support programs and physical fitness programs..
• Works collaboratively with all Divisions within COA.
• Participates as appropriate in strategic planning and CQI activities.
• Manages special projects as directed by the COO, including the Joint Base Common Output Level Standard project as described in the DOD contract
• Plans and delivers workshops, presentations and briefings related to the DOD Project for interested parties.

• Masters degree in Public Administration, Social Work or related field preferred. Significant work experience as a Project Manager may be considered as a substitute for an advanced degree.

• Minimum of 5 years experience in the social service field, including at least 2 years supervising staff. Prior experience as a Project Manager preferred.
