Program Description: KCS Asian American Adult Center program which is funded by National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA) and NYC Department for the Aging (NYC DFTA) provides job training services for Asian American seniors in NYC. The senior job training program also known as Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is targeting to support the low income adults 55 years old and over. This program is a free service to the employer and matches low-income Asian American older adults with positions commensurate with their backgrounds and interests. While training for a position, SCSEP pays the participants with a minimum wage per hour in New York State. SCSEP participants experience various job training at community based organizations and while the participants receive job training, the participants conduct job search for unsubsidized jobs.
Program Director Job Description: Program director will be responsible primarily for promoting SCSEP and enrolling seniors who are eligible and interested in senior job training program. Program director will mainly conduct administrative works that are related SCSEP documentations including SCSEP participants’ payroll, fund request to NAPCA & NYC DFTA. Also, program director is responsible to collaborate not only with NAPCA & NYC DFTA, but also with other SCSEP providers in NYC and with CBOs in the community. Lastly, as one of the major staff members at KCS, program director will be responsible to join at KCS directors’ meeting, monthly staff meeting, benefits events, and fund-raising events.
Qualification: ① Bachelor’s or Master’s (desired) degree in social work, gerontology, sociology or related field required ② 2-3 years of experience preferred ③ Bilingual skill required (Korean and English / Korean and Chinese) ④ Understanding and strong commitment to community work ⑤ Strong interpersonal skills ⑥ Excellent communication skills (oral and written) ⑦ Computer skills required ( MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and so on)
