Go rafting on one of Costa Rica’s most-exuberant, class 3-4 rivers - perfect for adventurous paddlers and finish with a spread of delicious, fresh, tropical fruit & Costa Rican lunch..
WHAT TO BRING:Clothes to get wet in,change of clothes, secure shoes , extra shoes like sandals too and big smile!
NOTE: Our adventures run rain or shine! If river conditions are unsuitable for rafting, our head guide may make the call to change to a back-up river of similar level &/or offer another tour. We depend on Mother Nature for good water flow, but water levels may be low in dry season – you're always guaranteed a fun, but safe day!

It's human nature to move from one place to another in pursuit of prosperity or, at least, survival. Most people move in the hopes of a better life, or to leave behind a bad one. For generations, the US has welcomed hundreds of thousands of immigrants from around the globe and has provided opportunities for growth both in their personal and professional lives. While others think of the US as the country that could provide the quality of life that is sought after, many Americans themselves, have looked farther than the homeland's borders for greener pastures, blacker pavements, or more historical cobblestones.

When a newbie-chef friend of mine was presented a chance to work at this restaurant in Paris, she didn't have to think twice before she agreed to take the job. While the restaurant may not be a four-diamond dining establishment, training under the supervision of a Parisian executive chef is a once tremendous opportunity that would definitely give a huge boost to her career. Extensive experience in French cuisine is something that's highly sought for by top restauranteurs in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago and every other major city in the US. Besides, living and working in a foreign land gives one a strong sense of adventure; living and working in Paris – wow. Sweet (and savory) deal.

Aside from her mad, gastronomic kitchen tricks, she's pretty equipped with top-notch organizational skills, too. She made quite an elaborate checklist of the things she needed to bring, the ones she had to get rid of, and the things that need to get done before she leaves the country. As a friend, I, of course, helped her cross the items off of her list. I offered to contact NYBox for her, but not after until I learned from her what NYBox was and what she needed from them.

NYBox is an international package forwarding company that, in a nutshell, redirects any mail sent to a certain address to an overseas location. Organized as she was, she didn't want to spend a lot of time making a list of the people, organizations and whatnot, and inform them of her move. And I get it. It's just much simpler to have all her letters and packages forwarded to her new address in France. To help her out, I learned more about the services that NYBox provides. For instance, I learned that should she decide to give her NYC apartment up, which is technically still under her name, but is currently being sublet, NYBox can give her a verified non-P.O. Box office address that she can give to the parties she expects to receive mail from. This is very useful when she does some shopping online – and believe me, she does a LOT of shopping online! She is moving to Paris, afterall.

Many virtual merchants based in the US do not ship goods overseas, and those that do often overcharge their customers for international shipping fees. By using the unique USA shipping address that NYBox has provided as a delivery address, the non-US resident customer only gets charged the usual local shipping costs. NYBox then receives the shipment for the customer and then forwards the package wherever he or she is in the world. I think this is pretty cool and it's definitely something many of my intrepid-shopping family and friends could use.

It's been half a year since my friend took the culinary job in Paris. Her contract doesn't end until 2013, but I hear she's already being wooed by some of the most aggressive restaurant owners here in New York. (Or at least that’s what she tells me. She could be lying. She does that sometimes.) The compensation they are all offering are tempting and, man, does she want to get back to New York. But, of course, she made a commitment and she'll see to it that she'll honor it. Better offers will come later. All in all, I'm kind of jealous. Even in the dead of winter I can’t always take the New York heat.
