Reunion

Yesterday I went back to the days of high school for a special GATE day!

We all know what GATE is right? Basically it's an acronym for "Gifted And Talented Education." This day is when special alumni gather and sit on a stage and have a Q&A session with the high schoolers. We're "special" alumni because we decided to go back to visit former teachers and all. It was all very cool. I remember myself being there on the floor, looking up at the stage and wondering, "Wow, I wonder what college I'll go to."

I know, this blog is for all you dreamers out there who are wondering the same question. Wow, I wonder where I'll go.

You are all, of course, finished with your college applications (right?!) and have a good idea of where you want to go. Excellent. There is nothing I can really I can say about your search for the "perfect" school except that your idea of the "perfect" school now may not be the "perfect" school that you want when you get back all of your big envelopes.

During your final semester of high school, you should definitely enjoy your life, as I know that's what most of you intend on doing. Living it up, etc, etc. All of you in your fun AP or IB classes will just continue to keep working until you finish those tests. Boy, do I know about both of those tests all too well. Unfortunately.

Don't despair! Your IB test scores are actually very helpful when you get into NYU, because they really don't overlook them. AP, of course...you know the drill (if not, ask me).

Winter breaks during college are completely different from any winter break I've ever had. Month-long lazy vacation. What? Do homework? I laugh in your face. Ha, ha, ha.

No homework, no required reading, just basking in the sun (oh wait, maybe not if you're not in the West side of the country. Sorry folks).

I do have a couple of goals during this Winter:

1. Finish painting my munny.
2. Paint my rainboots.
3. Finish a few books.
4. Watch a few movies.
5. Disneyland? No, obviously, I'm not as adult as I thought.

I did get an early goody from Santa this year. A brand spanking new laptop. Only because "Santa" wanted to take my old one. I don't know why...but this one is super, a very sleek piece of technology on which I am now writing to each and every one of y'all.

Tomorrow I am off to Las Vegas. Viva Las Vegas. We (my family and I) enjoy going for concerts (yep) and shopping. I like.

It really wasn't until college when I realized how nice it is to be at home, even though I'd always wanted to be away from it.
