Interviews and Inspirations

Hey everyone,

As some of you know I got the chance to interview Bruce Davidson this past week thanks to Tom. I took a few hours last night to transcribe the recording last night so if anyone wants to see it just ask me.

I would explain how things went but it would be better for me to do that in person.

Instead, I will say that it was a day i'll never forget and I wanted to share this excerpt with you guys...

"Although I have been driven more to landscapes, but landscapes that have a social underpinning in the last few years. That isn’t because I’ve lost faith in humanity or anything like that. I feel that right now it’s important for me to look at… green spaces for instance. And what nature means in the city. There’s a lot of nature in cities, and they go unnoticed. Or underappreciated for that matter. We see ourselves detached from nature and I, in my central park work for instance, I tried to show that we are an extension of nature and nature is an extension of us. That we have arms, but trees have branches and roots…and it’s all the same. It’s all carbon. It’s all organic."

Going along with that, today I was looking at a photo essay today called "In the Time of Trees." I think it is most definitely worth a look. I find that trees are magical in their own right.

To accompany the essay are some really great quotes. One of my personal favorites: "Acts of creation are ordinarily reserved for gods and poets. To plant a pine, one need only own a shovel."
- Aldo Leopold

I was reminded of Margo's project and how everything begins on the molecular level.

"In the Time of Trees" - enjoy them while you can
