Rock Stars

Christina and I went to see the Walkmen tonight, which resulted in an incredibly ridiculous experience. Camel cigarettes was sponsoring the show and held some psychedelic dance party/photo extravaganza to advertise. We walked up to this woman who scanned our ID's and gave us a lighter, a usb flash drive, cigarette coupons (how awful), and a ticket. After being interviewed by some guy video taping the event, we were directed towards a studio photo set up with a skyline/crowd backdrop and all sorts of rock star props. We posed awkwardly and the woman took a photo of us with a wide angle lens and an overhead flash set up with a soft box... the photo got sent directly to another laptop where a guy photoshopped it, printed it out, and put it on the flash drives that they gave us.

By doing some research I found out that this was the company doing it: http://www.politeinpublic.com/. They call it karaoke in the form of photography, or photobooths of the 21st century, which is really an accurate description. I felt terrible for the guy who had to photoshop everyone though.

Afterwards we stood in another line where we picked a design and then that design got screen printed onto an american apparel tshirt right in front of us and we got to keep it - all of this for free. (This is the website of the people who did it - http://www.drivebypress.org/)

During the show some photographer working for Camel took a photo of Christina and I for the website of the event. After some talking he said he may help us get us a job and what not, but the important part was when he was scrolling through my photos of the show, I had forgotten that I had taken like eight pictures of him taking pictures. And then it got really awkward.

At any rate, I think we got like 35 dollars worth of stuff not counting the show which we paid 25 for. I may post some photos that I took of the bands, but I think the one above is more entertaining than anything I could have taken.

I don't think your fate is to become a photoshop monkey at concerts.

That picture is still awesome though
