Photography goes Hollywood

I always find it funny how Hollywood tends to portray photographers.

Horror film directors must find dark red safety lights particularly attractive whilst looking for symbolic situations. e.g. Saw. Also, most recently, while sitting in the dining hall I watched a show on T.V. that had a woman walk out of her bedroom, past her dark room, and suddenly there was the shadow of a man behind her.

This reminded me of two completely ridiculous looking horror movies coming out soon. Both of them deal with photography in completely different, but equally absurd ways.

These will hopefully make you laugh:

1) First off, we have the Midnight Meat Train! "Next stop…death." How is that not the best tagline ever? Not only is this about a photographer, but he's up and coming in a big city. Let's hope none of you guys stumble upon a murder and decide to turn it into your final project.

2) Shutter

Ooo something tells me they weren't smart enough, but somehow managed to pull off this double entendre. Shutter, shudder, eh?

This one is all about what the trailer so dubiously proclaims "Spirit photography!"

I wonder why I haven't heard of this before?

Oh and it almost seems like an interesting movie until they throw in girl with scaly back and frog-like tongue.

There is, however, some hope in the depths of new movies coming to theaters. For those of you in Erika's Visual Thinking (and those of you who are not, you just might not get the reference) there's a new movie coming out entitled "Les Chamsons De l'amour" or Love Songs. It's supposed to be very much like Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. In fact i've downloaded the soundtrack and I find it beautiful, regardless of my lacking in French.

I almost wish I could go and see it without subtitles. Although, I suppose I could hold my hand up and block the bottom of the screen for two hours.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
