Always nay saying.

I was looking at some more of those typography videos Erika showed us in Visual Thinking and I found this one, (which i find hilarious because i love tenacious d):

And I'm sure some of you have heard, there's a big controversy over the newest Leivobitz Vogue cover:

Leivobitz Controversy

While I think people are reading too far into it, I have to say while I've always been a fan of Annie Leibovitz's work, I've seen much better Vogue covers. It also got me thinking about the average photographer's frame of reference or simply things everyone has seen once in awhile that somehow--without us knowing, stay in our minds. The two images looks very similar but I highly doubt Leivobitz was consciously thinking about recreating an Army poster. Alot of things stick in our heads and come out in images without us being aware of it.

Charley:

I can't help to think that the two images are more than a coincidence. When you compare the two, there are so many similarities. From the tone of the dress to to positioning of the basketball and the girl and Lebron's expression. I highly highly doubt that it was done as some sort of means to perpetuate a stereotype, I would guess it was more a little joke that LeBron was in on.
