Balance

I'm trying to keep a steady balance between this blog and my own blog for Visual Thinking. I just posted a huge entry over here, which has some fun pictures and whatnot from the past week.

I don't have a lot, but I thought I'd post some photographers that I've been looking at, and some that we've discussed in class, and one we've all met.

Jeff Wall
Taryn Simon(click photographs at the bottom)
Alec Soth
Ryan McGinley
Michael Schmelling
Andreas Gursky

Hiroshi Sugimoto
Richard Misrach doesn't have a website, but you should google him.

Also, Hiroshi Sugimoto shot some great pictures of a Richard Serra piece and the always wonderful Jonathan Safron Foer wrote a poem for it. There is a book of it, and it is so fantastically beautiful, and titled "Joe".

you can see it and buy it here. Jessica and Mara talked to us about the value of buying books when the come out because they gain so much value over time, and I think that this is one of those books that will be a collector's item in a while. On that note, I also bought Bruce Davidson's Circus and am going to buy Misrach's On The Beach. Both of which are very cheap, as Davidson's older books are close to impossible to find nowadays for cheaper than $200.

I guess I'm in super blog mode, so sorry for the long-windedness.
