fairytale photos

spending too many hours searching through the many pages of the world wide web is something that consumes many of my saturday mornings. I must do this all very quietly and in the dark--so as not to wake my roomate--who quite recently has taken to staying out very very late and then arriving well into the morning to take to her bed. This particular morning i stumbled upon these photographs. They are Leibowitz's--and maybe many of you have seen them--i had not...and i think they rock. In the past i have been slightly wary to admit my love of Annie Leibowitz--because many believe her to be some sort of sellout--this ends to day. Love her. seriously. when people ask me what i want to be when i grow up...im just going to say..her.
this is an ad campaign she did for disney--she shot it in september of 2007...some in New York. Since we are all about color this semester--i thought these photos were pretty relevant. She somehow uses a very similar color palette for all the photographs--really keeping them in a series.
for me--this is the perfect example of commercial art--hope you like it--or at least get what im saying.

I think this is one of those instances where it's almost hard to brand it as photography.

Some of these are nice for their intended purposes, I really like the tones of the first one.

Although the one with the 'blue fairy from pinocchio', to me, is a very bad photoshopping job.

The girl sitting on the leave is obviously placed into the scene, and the woman is hovering at a very odd angle. It just looks really piecey, whereas some of the others bring all of the elements together nicely.
