CCTOP on the Road: Kingsborough CC and LaGuardia CC

The travel season is slowly winding to a close as the April 1 deadline comes up, but I have some great visits left to make. As always, any of the current CCTOP students, if you'd like to visit your former stomping grounds, we'd love to have you, and if you're an interested student, or a current applicant, by all means, please stop by!

This week, I'll be at the Kingsborough CC day Transfer Fair, on Thursday (3/26), from 10:30 to 2:30, in U-219.

Next week, I'll be back at Kingsborough for the evening Fair on Tuesday, 3/31, from 3:30-7 in the Breezeway, but additionally, for those involved in (or hoping to be!) the honors program, I'll be doing a honors presentation from 4-5 in M239.

On Thursday, April 2, I'll be at the LaGuardia Transfer Fair from 2-6 in the E-Building Atrium. Anyone interested form LaGuardia, please don't wait to see me there before deciding to apply for the fall term; if you're curious, let me know as soon as possible. The application deadline is April 1.

I'll see you on the road!

TAKING A CHANCE ON KELSY
“THE JOB SQUAD: REWIRE TO GET HIRED”
CBS NEWS FOLLOWS FOUR JOB SEEKERS THROUGHOUT THEIR JOB SEARCH
DURING THE FRIGID JOB MARKET
WHAT: CBS News “The Early Show” 7:00am-9:00am starts a weeklong series
starting Monday March 23rd. The Job Squad, a group of four job seekers
hit the pavement to find a job during these challenging times. Susan
Koeppen, consumer correspondent, called it the “Early Show Job
Squad.” Throughout their job search the job seekers received expert
advice and job-seeking strategies.
WHO: As a recent graduate, Kelsy Nova hopes that her skills and dogged
determination will land her the right job, even in these tough financial
times. Her entrepreneurial spirit and optimism kept her motivated and
driven.
DETAILS: "The (jobs) news lately has been grim," says series producer Audrey
Gruber, "and it seemed, at least to those of us at The Early Show, that
the advice many people were getting was one-size-fits-all.
The truth is that if you're just out of college you need a different jobseeking
strategy than someone who has a family or someone over 65.
Gruber explains that the show is "sharing the stories of four unique
individuals we believe many of our viewers can see themselves in, or
someone they know or love. They represent the downsized-loyal
employee with kids, the just-out-of-college grad looking for her first
real job, the stay-at-home mom suddenly forced to try to return to the
workforce to help the family, and a 60-plus job seeker who took a
beating in the stock market, making retirement a distant dream.
WHEN: CBS News “The Early Show” (New York City) Channel 2
Early Show Job Squad weeklong series is due to air:
 Wednesday March 25th, KELSY NOVA:
On air LIVE! 7:00-9:00AM
