en un rincón sin esquina
esquivo adjetivos y formas
como simple y bello pétalo
vuelo, nazco y muero
en un abrir y cerrar
de ojos.
pronunciar tu nombre, crecer
aprender tu naturaleza, cada
suspiro, cada sensación,
cada espina o memoria/lección
despacio graban historia
con puño apretado y letras
garabatos.
es un trago amargo
amarte actualmente
o es difícil imaginar
como todavia nos pertenecemos
y nos merecemos.
imagino una libélula
imagino otra, diferente
distinta, ajena
matices verde menta
y tajante púrpura
soy la rueda y el camino
la luna y el sol
hablo y despiertas
ver como nunca nadie jamás
y finalmente
amar
una tarde ardiente
eternal
irresistible
y completamente
indescifrable.

two weeks to go - the longer the present to be
a desktop picture/window, weather forecast
a cemetery, autumn begins
overcast sky, overcast mind
a new operating reality, i might become accustomed
slow piano strokes, thunder, a dark corner
a cold embrace, sweetly whispers
two more weeks - the freedom to endure
the binding ties that chafe these wrists;
the rage and anger, the tears, the fists-
neverending hurt becomes
my truest companion, promised bride
i choke on a bite of its frosted heart
and silently slip into a nightscape [mind/reality]
of a dream
There is a restaurant, located in the East Village of New York City, called Caracas Arepa Bar. It's on 7th Street at 1st Avenue, and they serve Venezuelan arepas.
So for lunch today I had arepas @ Caracas. The picture displays "la sureña" (the southern arepa), with parchita juice (passion fruit). La sureña consists of the corn-based arepa, filled with chicken, beef, and chorizo, and slices of avocado; I added some salsa picante. This is one of my favorite places to eat, even if they are loisaida-small.
Around the corner from Caracas is Ruben's Empanadas, another favorite of mine.
On my way to get me some empanadas or arepas (I had not yet decided, since they're around the corner from each other), walking on St Marks Place I saw this bus! This funky bus, painted with funky images and many colors. Below, a couple poses as a third takes their picture.
In the end I decided in favor of arepas (read about it!)
I attended Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, between 1989 and 1993.In honor of World Teachers' Day today, tell us about a teacher who had a positive impact on your life.
Una bandeja típica colombiana.
It took a Colombian person moving to the Bronx before I found a Colombian food restaurant in the Boogie Down.
Yes, it was delicious.
In the photo above, the traditional platter, with sweet plantain, rice and beans, pork, beef, avocado, arepa (por supuesto) and a fried egg!
