After a couple of weeks not being able to take (save) photos with iPhone's camera, it is working again.  Proof of the pudding is in the tasting (see a blog post containing a recently taken photo).

Apparently this has happened to others out there; I found a solution in a forum, and then shared it with others in the appropriate Apple discussion forum.

The problem: taking photos with iPhone's camera did not save the pictures properly, such that reviewing the pictures from the Camera Roll a blank thumbnail appeared where the photo was supposed to be, and tapping on the empty quadrangle resulted in a crashed camera app that returned you to the home screen.

The fix involved performing a destructive restore.

(also, compare to atlassian's confluence, and microsoft's sharepoint). google sites allow you to create a web-based space for project collaboration, such as file managers, project task and issues tracking, etc.
