Liberté, égalité, fraternité

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

Presidential Candidates on Immigration

Dennis Kucinich still impresses me.  I recently watched his YouTube video on Immigration.  I also saw Obama (como se llama?), Clinton, Giuliani, and Romney's videos on the same topic.

First of all, Obama's about the only one whose style did not drown out his content while speaking.  Kucinich was coherent, but his video was prepared for YouTube, whereas Obama was speaking at an event concerted by the NCLR.  Clinton is somniferous, Romney is unfocused, and Giuliani lithpth.

Now about the content, Obama is clear on his commitment. Kucinich is clear on his ideas, his plans and his commitment. Clinton says a lot of words that sound like they're something but are actually nothing; I get the impression, from what she says, that she clearly wants the democratic nomination and would say anything to gain it.

I did not watch the other candidates, but you can if you choose to visit YouTube's YouChoose site.

Dead Again

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2003852598_castro25.html

Nobody lives forever. Even Castro, the man who has been rumored dead a thousand times, the man whom the CIA has admitted to attempting to assassinate on many occasions, the man whom the entire imperialist ordo americanus could not stop, will eventually meet the all too human fate of death. All men do.

I think it's pitiful that people choose to seek to be free from the oppression of Castro and all his extensions of power, and still do not escape from under the shadow of an image that torments them so. Move on; leave Castro and Cuba behind. If you chose to abandon it and cut it from your life, why continue hanging onto it for your pleasure or disappointment?

So for now, Castro continues to disappoint those people. Dañándoles la sopa. To quote:

For now, the older generation in particular is keeping a stiff upper lip, said Radio Mambi's Armando Perez Roura, a longtime Cuban radio personality who has been poised to break the news of Castro's demise for decades.

For decades. Castro is on a different class of humans. He and his image, his acts, his memories, will live longer than his body. He has entered the books of history, to forever live. If anyone is oppressed by the idea of Castro, they will have a very long time to wait before that idea fades.
