The crew from Yang Ter visited our campus on 20 Mar 2009 to feature Tisch School of the Arts Asia in the episode highlighting education in Singapore.

The episode looks at how Singapore strives to be a global education hub by attracting outstanding students from all over the world and encouraging prestigious global institutions of education to establish their campuses in Singapore.

Our campus was selected as the institution to feature for “The Best” of global campuses in Singapore. The presenter of the series and the crew were taken on a walk about to find out what makes us good.

Visit by Asian Media

18 members of the press from India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia and China visited the campus on March 13 to find out more about what we have to offer and the facilities that we have on campus.

During the tour of the campus facilities, fascinated members of the press were busy taking photos, writing notes or trying to do both. The tour stopped at the black box theater for a Q & A session. Questions posed by the media ranged from admission requirements, the demography of our student population and the rationale behind choosing Singapore as the destination for setting up a campus to tuition fees and scholarships.

The visit ended with some snacks and drinks while interviews with our students Mary Beth, Gu Qiao, Chun Yi, Shivani and Kaizin were conducted.

jenny%26clara.jpg

Wee Li-Lin, a student in our Dramatic Writing program/ Singaporean Filmmaker’s debut feature film, Gone Shopping has traveled to 10 film festivals all over the world. This film will be screening in Kuala Lumpur beginning 12 March 2009 and we would like to congratulate Li-Lin and wish her every success!

Synopsis
Gone Shopping is a satirical drama about how a woman’s obsession with shopping changes her life. Clara, a 40-year-old tai-tai (lady of leisure), faces a mid-life crisis and decides to runaway to the only place that has ever made sense to her – the shopping centres. As she lives there, she crosses paths with Renu, an eight-year-old kid who has been abandoned by her parents in a 24-hour mall in Little India; Valentine, her ex-boyfriend who now works in a department store; and Aaron, an angsty 23-year-old who skives work to hang out at the mall with his friends.

These characters will lead the audience through a journey of love, loss and liberation in the heart of Singapore where dreams can be bought and broken.

Praise for Gone Shopping

‘Gone Shopping … would make a good addition to any Asian-focused fest looking beyond the usual suspects like Royston Tan or Eric Khoo. Elegantly shot on HD, and with a semi-fairy-tale atmosphere, this is something small but fresh from Singapore’s tiny industry.’* Derek Elley, Variety*

‘Gone Shopping is an accessible chick flick with a quirky arthouse sensibility that gives it a little extra pizzazz. It is also a promising debut for Singaporean filmmaker Wee Li Lin.’* Ong Sor Fern, Straits Times, Singapore*

The opens this coming March 12 and will be premiered at three (3) GSC Cinemas in KL, Malaysia:
GSC Cinema Capacity Ticket Price

Mid Valley 96 seats RM11
