Great NYC Young Tech Meetup Tonight

There's a great NYC tech meetup event for young entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, and venture capitalists that meets every couple months. It's not published anywhere online and generally invitations are only doled out through word of mouth and friends of friends. It's probably for this reason of limited publicity that the caliber of people in attendance seems to generally be quite high. Tonight for instance, I spoke with a number of very friendly people with backgrounds ranging from current students at NYU and Columbia, to investment bankers at Blackstone, to startup folks at Flurry and others, to VCs from FirstMark Capital and Trident Capital. Overall it was a very enjoyable event which reinforces my belief that New York continues to establish the tech/entrepreneurship foundation and mentality that exists in Silicon Valley today.

Hello, welcome to my NYU Stern MBA Blog!

I was excited to just stumble across the ability to create a blog on the nyu.edu domain, I had no idea this functionality existed.

So a little bit about me. In brief, I moved from San Francisco to New York last July to get my MBA at NYU's Stern School of Business. I am part of the founding team at SkillSlate.com helping to build the best site for consumers to find local individual service providers. I previously spent time as a VC intern at Canaan Partners, and a long time ago, I founded two other companies and worked at Yahoo!. My main blog is located at BrianRothenberg.com, so you can check me out there if I'm not posting regularly here.
