Next Event! (last of the semester)

Campus Icarus presents:

RAGE to PAGE: A (free!) Workshop
There is no pride in self-destruction!

Nobody wants to talk about it in a real way- why women actually cut, starve or drug themselves, what it feels like, and why it is so socially acceptable to self-destruct.
Based on the essays of her newest collection, "Live Through This: The Art of Self-Destruction", Editor/Playwright Sabrina Chapadjiev will be leading a workshop on the themes that surround self-destruction: shame, power, and control, as well as ways to channel self-destructive behaviors into creative ones.

WHEN:
Friday, May 2nd, 2008
6:30-8:00 PM

(one hour and a half-ish)

WHERE:
Gallatin Student Lounge
715 B’Way, 5th Floor

Bring your journal, pencil and creative mind!

Refreshments will be served.

Blog Launch!

Welcome to the very first Campus Icarus blog. It's a work in progress... Montana, Todd and I are not particularly technologically-savvy, but we're trying our best to use the web as a prime resource for NYU's Campus Icarus community.

We hope to use this as a way to increase awareness of our presence on and off campus. We'll post information about upcoming events, and keep an ongoing record of past events.

We encourage you to become an active member of our community by contributing to this blog and at our events. Ongoing dialogue about mental health issues at NYU and at large is at the core of our mission. We hope you'll participate in deconstructing common perceptions via these avenues for critical thinking.

Please feel free to contribute posts on this blog, as we believe and rely on everyone's valuable perspectives to creating and maintaining a dynamic community.

Check back soon for updates on upcoming Spring 2008 events and meetings.

Mad love!
Annie, Montana, and Todd

p.s. We're also in the process of creating a website on NYU web space. Anyone out there interested in helping with the design and maintenance?? Email us at: campus.icarus@gmail.com
